Iran Strikes Qatar's Al Udeid Air Base with Missiles

Trump: Iran's Response to US Destruction of Its Nuclear Facilities "Very Weak"

Earlier, on the evening of June 23rd local time, Iran's armed forces issued a statement announcing a missile strike on the US military's Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar. The statement claimed that the operation was a response to the US military's attack on Iranian nuclear facilities, approved by Iran's Supreme National Security Council, and specifically executed by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

Iran's armed forces stated in a declaration that they launched "devastating and powerful" missiles at the US military's Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar.4

The spokesperson for Iran's "True Promise-3" operation released a video statement asserting that Iran's decisive action sent a clear message to the White House and its allies: Iran will under no circumstances tolerate infringements on its territorial integrity, sovereignty, and national security.

The Secretariat of Iran's Supreme National Security Council also issued a statement on the evening of June 23rd, saying that the number of missiles launched was the same as the number of bombs used by the US when it attacked Iranian nuclear facilities, and that the targeted US military base was far from Qatar's residential areas and urban infrastructure.

On the evening of June 23rd local time, the Qatari military stated that Iran had launched two waves of 19 missiles in total towards the US Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, causing no casualties or material damage.5

The Qatari military stated that Iran launched 7 missiles in the first wave, all of which were intercepted by Qatar's anti-missile system at sea. Of the 12 missiles in the second wave, Qatar intercepted 11, with one landing inside Al Udeid Air Base but causing no casualties or material damage.

Qatar also stated that Al Udeid Air Base had been evacuated before the Iranian attack.6

On June 23rd local time, US President Donald Trump posted on social media that Iran's formal response to the US destruction of its nuclear facilities was "very weak," which was expected by the US, and that a very effective counterattack had also been carried out.7

Trump stated that Iran launched 14 missiles, 13 of which were shot down, and 1 flew in a non-threatening direction. Trump expressed his joy in announcing that no Americans were injured, and virtually no damage was caused. Trump stated that he hopes hatred will not continue and thanked Iran for notifying the US in advance, which made it possible for there to be no casualties.8
